Our Story
Hi! This is Kathleen and Eileen, the Chinese-American sister duo behind Ruyi Club.
We started this brand to celebrate and connect with our Chinese heritage in a way that fits seamlessly into our modern lifestyles. Our designs focus on blending cultures in a way that feels as natural and beautiful as the blend of cultures within each of us.
We sincerely hope that our pieces make you feel like YOU: beautiful, confident, and proud.
FAQ
What materials does Ruyi Club use for jewelry?
Our jewelry is made with natural gemstones, 925 sterling silver, and 14K gold vermeil. Unlike regular gold-plated jewelry, which often has a thin coating of gold on a non-precious metal base like steel or brass, gold vermeil requires a thicker coating of gold (at least 2.5 microns) on sterling silver for long-lasting shine and an elevated look and feel.
What differentiates Ruyi Club's quality?
Our jewelry's quality is ensured through our materials, design, and inspection process.
- The base materials we use are all precious and semi-precious metals and stones which inherently have higher value than brass or steel.
- Our designs favor solid metal pieces rather than hollowed out pieces often found on the market.
- We produce in small batches and inspect every single piece by hand.
Can I wear Ruyi Club jewelry if I don't have Chinese heritage?
Yes! One of the reasons we make our jewelry modern and comfortable for everyday wear is to share our culture more broadly with everyone. All culture and jewelry appreciators are welcome to wear our jewelry.
How is Ruyi Club thinking about impact & sustainability?
Impact and sustainability is very important to us so we've put together a plan based on what's within our means today and what we hope to achieve in the future. Here's what we've currently implemented for the launch of our small business:
- Use of a local community banking partner rather than a "big bank"
- All packaging made of recyclable material and repurposed packaging waste
- Small batch jewelry production to minimize waste
And here's what's on our roadmap:
- Finding a local jewelry supplier to reduce transportation and packaging
- Exploring the sustainability of recycled metals
- Partnering with organizations that uplift our community
We're looking forward to reaching our next milestone together with you.
